Benjamin Bayl

The conductor Benjamin Bayl was born in Sydney in 1978 and became the first Australian „Organ Scholar“ at King’s College Cambridge. He studied at the National Opera Studio and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Following his studies, Benjamin Bayl assisted the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer as a conductor. As an opera conductor, Bayl made his debut with Opera Australia with Orlando and with English Touring Opera with Ariodante. Guest conductorships followed at the Vienna State Opera, the Dutch National Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Royal Danish Opera, Den Norske Opera, Theater an der Wien, Opera Vlaanderen, Opera de Oviedo, Budapest State Opera, Polish National Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Opera Zuid, NorrlandsOperan, Theater Aachen and Opera Australia. In addition, Benjamin Bayl is a concert conductor in demand worldwide and recently made his debut at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Benjamin Bayl is associate conductor of the Hanover Band – a British orchestra of historically informed performance practice – and co-founder and guest conductor of the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra. In 2021/22 season, he made his debut at the Stuttgart State Opera in a the new production of Juditha triumphans.
