Christina Thanasoula is a Europe based freelance lighting designer, writer and educator. She holds a Master of Arts in Advanced Theatre Practice, strand of Lighting Design, from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RCSSD (London, UK) as well as a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Athens (NKUOA). She is currently working on her PhD thesis on lighting design under the title: Lighting design transformations on the contemporary theatre stage: theory, practice and education.
Since 2002, she has designed lighting for over 270 opera, theatre and dance performances, site specific projects and events in most of Greece’s largest venues, including the National Theatre, the ancient open-air theatre of Epidaurus, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Greek National Opera, the Hellenic Festival and more.
She is interested in productions that combine multiple disciplines, enjoying the collaborative nature of performing arts.
