The Hungarian soprano Emöke Baráth has received numerous prizes and awards, including First Prize at the Cesti Competition in Innsbruck, the Grand Prix of the Verbier Festival Academy and the Junior Prima Primissima Award in Hungary. She launched her international career with a recording of Giulio Cesare (Sesto) under Alan Curtis and with her debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in the title role of Cavalli’s Elena.
Major engagements include Musica and Euridice in L’Orfeo under Iván Fischer, Romilda in Cavalli’s Il Xerse under Emmanuelle Haïm, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio under Laurence Equilbey, the title role in Cavalli’s Hipermestra under William Christie, Télaïre in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux under Ivor Bolton, Amore in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice under Gianluca Capuano and Diego Fasolis, Morgana in Alcina under Haïm, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare under Philippe Jaroussky, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons under György Vashegyi and Ádám Fischer, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro under Marc Minkowski, Mozart’s Mass in C minor under Nathalie Stutzmann and Mozart’s Requiem under Philippe Herreweghe.
She has also appeared in Poulenc’s Stabat Mater and Gloria under Bernard Têtu and Bertrand de Billy, as L’Ange in Messiaen’sSaint François d’Assise under Sylvain Cambreling, as Sœur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites under Michele Mariotti in Rome and on a highly successful Asian tour with the Baroque program La storia di Orfeo alongside Ensemble Artaserse under Philippe Jaroussky. In 2023 she performed the role of Aminta in Mozart’s Il re pastore at the Salzburg Festival.
Engagements during the 2025/26 season include Haydn’s The Seasons with the Royal Danish Chamber Orchestra under Ádám Fischer in Malmö and Vienna; Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica in Seville; Pergolesi’s Stabat Materunder Michele Mariotti in a staging by Romeo Castellucci in Rome; an extensive tour of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Le Concert d’Astrée under Emmanuelle Haïm to Paris, Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Barcelona and Madrid; and Mozart’s Requiem with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo under Kazuki Yamada as well as with Capella Cracoviensis under Christina Pluhar in Salzburg.
Emöke Baráth is an exclusive artist with the label Erato/Warner Classics. Her debut solo album, Voglio Cantar, featuring 17th-century arias, was released in 2019, followed by the album Dualità in 2022. In 2019, she was awarded the ECHO Klassik Prize.
