Christophe Dumaux
Handel’s Nature
Thibault Noally | Les Accents
At the latest since his international breakthrough as Eustazio in Handel’s Rinaldo under René Jacobs at the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier 2022, the countertenor Christophe Dumaux has been noted among the great interpreters in his field and guests regularly on such major stages as the Vienna State Opera, La Scala Milan, the Paris Opéra, the New York Metropolitan Opera and at the Salzburg Festival, where he was a sensation in summer 2025 in the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto. Besides works by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Gluck and Mozart, the operas of George Frideric Handel form a pivotal focus of his artistic career.
In the concert Handel’s Nature, Christophe Dumaux together with Les Accents under Thibault Noally presents a selection of his favourite arias from the pen of the great maestro from Halle. And here he can draw on unlimited resources: although Handel gleans from long years of tradition and only rarely breaks through the rigid dramaturgy of the opera seria, his arias avail of a formal and emotional range that went far beyond the usual scope of that time – hardly a human emotion exists that Handel did not set to music, and in the most subtle and direct way! And when a world star of the Baroque vocal art like Christophe Dumaux approaches these masterly arias, no heart can remain cold, nor eye remain dry.
