Evgeny Sviridov was born in 1989 in St. Petersburg and studied violin at the local conservatory. Already as a student, he won prizes at renowned competitions, including the “Yehudi Menuhin” in Cardiff, the “Premio Paganini” in Genoa and “Jascha Heifetz” in Vilnius. In 2010 he won 1st prize at the Bach Competition in Leipzig, and in 2016 and 2017 he also won 1st prizes and audience prizes at the competitions in Rouen (Concours Corneille) and Bruges (Musica antiqua). From 2015 to 2017 he studied baroque violin in Cologne.
He has been concertmaster of Concerto Köln since 2015, but also appears as a guest with other ensembles, including Ensemble 1700, Ensemble Pomo d’Oro, the Bremen Baroque Orchestra and his permanent ensemble Ludus Instrumentalis. As a soloist and ensemble musician, Evgeny Sviridov can be heard in the great halls and at important festivals, including the Bachfest Leipzig, the Thüringer Bachwochen, the festivals in Potsdam, Cremona, Brussels and Bruges, as well as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Cologne Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin. Since 2015 he has played a baroque violin by Januarius Gagliano (Naples 1732) on loan from the “Jumpstart” Foundation.
Various CD projects document his musical activity. He has released works by Bach and Biber on the Genuin label and various sonatas by Vivaldi on ERP.
