Ordenskirche St. Georgen
The Order Church of St. George, also known as the Sophie Church, is a Protestant Lutheran church and the landmark of the St. George district in Bayreuth. The central structure, designed as a Greek cross in the Baroque style, impresses with its elaborate stucco work by Bernardo Quadri and ceiling paintings by Johann Martin Wild and Gabriel Schreyer. The ornate pulpit altar, the magnificent organ case, and the central baptismal font, all created by Elias Räntz, highlight the spirit of enlightened Protestantism.
