Lyric soprano Maria Palaska frequently performs at opera stages and concert halls in Germany, Greece, Austria, Italy and Spain. She enjoys a wide repertoire ranging from Monteverdi, Händel, Mozart to Bellini, Donizetti, Strauss and extending to contemporary composers such as Manfred Trojahn, Wolfgang Rihm and Jonathan Dove.
Maria recently collaborated with the Greek National Opera as Lisa (La sonnambula) in a production of Marco Arturo Marelli – a co-production with the Vienna State Opera. At the Athen festival Sacred Music Days, she performed works by John Tavener under Nikolaos Laaris. During the season 2018/19 she made her debut as Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi an the Historical Theatre Weissenhorn and concert performances in Germany with works such as Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate!, Jomelli’s Veni Creator Spiritus and Bach’s Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen. In the 2017/18 seaon she performed Proserpina in Monteverdis L’Orfeo at the Athens Megaron, Musetta (La bohème) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Greek National Opera. For La bohème Maria worked with the director Graham Vick who was in Athens for the revival of his staging. Die Zauberflöte was a production of Barrie Kosky of the Komische Oper Berlin. Future engagements include a tour throughout Germany in Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem.
