Soprano Mariana Flores has established herself as an essential interpreter of the Baroque repertoire, taking part in opera productions at the Paris Opéra, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Opéra Comique (Paris), the Dijon Opera, the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. She works regularly under the direction of Leonardo García-Alarcón and has collaborated with John Eliot Gardiner, Christina Pluhar, Vincent Dumestre, Teodor Currentzis and Gabriel Garrido among others.
She has performed the title roles in Draghi’s El Prometeo, Sacrati’s La finta pazza, Luigi Rossi’s Il palazzo incantato.
In September 2022, she created the role of Mary Magdalene in the oratorio Pasión Argentina, Leonardo García-Alarcón’s first major composition, which was successfully performed at the Ambronay Festival and at Geneva’s Victoria Hall, before triumphing once again in the role of Deidamia in the revival of La finta pazza at the Opéra Royal de Versailles.
She was taking part in several award-winning recordings, including D’India’s Lamenti & Sospiri in 2021, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and La finta Pazza in 2022. She also appeared in the role of Amore and Minerva in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence 2024. In October 2023 she released Alfonsina, a highly personal album of Argentinian folk songs recorded with Quito Gato.
