Maximiliano Danta was born in Uruguay and began his vocal training with Beatriz Pazos. He completed a degree in Renaissance and Baroque singing at the “Guido Cantelli” Conservatory in Novara under the guidance of Roberto Balconi. He is currently continuing his studies at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin with Andrea Marchiol.
He is the winner of the first prize at the International Cesti Singing Competition.
He has performed at major festivals, including the Resonanzen Festival at the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, the Early Music Festival at Müpa Budapest, the International Bach Festival in Gran Canaria, the Rencontres Baroques de Montfrin, Les Claviers en Pays d’Auch, MiTo SettembreMusica, the Festival delle Nazioni, the Monteverdi Festival Cremona and Milano Arte Musica.
He has collaborated with renowned conductors and musicians such as Ottavio Dantone, Gabriel Garrido, Antonio Greco, Luca Guglielmi, Gerd Amelung, Stefano Demicheli, Paolo Da Col and Claudio Chiavazza.
His operatic roles include Sesto in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Fama in Conti’s Il trionfo della Fama, Teagene in Agricola’s Achille in Sciro, Anastasio in Vivaldi’s Il Giustino, Cupid in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis, Sorcerer and Spirit in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Pastore/Messaggera/Speranza in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Paggio in Cavalli’s Ercole amante, San Francesco Saverio in Zipoli’s San Ignacio de Loyola, La Morte in Bassani’s La Morte delusa and Donizetti’s Luigia in Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali.
His concert repertoire includes, among others, Bach’s Missae breves, Christmas Oratorio, St John Passion, St Matthew Passion, and Psalm 51 (Pergolesi–Bach), Charpentier’s Te Deum, Alessandro Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater and Dixit Dominus, as well as the role of the Evangelist in Passio secundum Joannem and Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater and Gloria.
He can be heard on CD as Amore in Marco da Gagliano’s La Flora under Elena Sartori (Glossa) and on the recording of Vitali’s vespers for San Contardo d’Este with the Madrigalisti Estensi (Nova Antiqua).
With his ensemble L’Humana Fragilità he performs as a multi-instrumentalist (voice, lira da gamba, and cornetto), presenting various programs including Al suon di questa lira, L’incanto musicale di Orfeo, Anima mea liquefacta est and Su la dotta lira – Le fiamme di celesti amanti trasformati.
