Narea Son

In the 2021/22 season Narea Son gave her sensational role debuts as Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, new production of David Bösch, Conductor: Ádám Fischer), Despina (Così fan tutte), Adele (Die Fledermaus, new production of Renaud Doucet, Conductor: Jonathan Darlington), Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites), Hirt (Tannhäuser, new production of Kornél Mundruczó, Conductor: Kent Nagano) and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Hamburg state Opera.

As a soloist member of the Hamburg State Opera, Narea could make many successful appearances, including as Marzelline (Fidelio, new production of Georges Delnon), the title role in Massimiliano Matesic’s Katze Ivanka (world premiere in a production of Vera Nemirova), Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos), Oberto (Alcina), Martha/Sorge/Soprano solo (Szenen aus Goethes Faust, next to Christian Gehaher) and Ljusja (Moskau, Tscherjomuschki).

Her asian debut as Zerlina (roll debut) at Seoul Metropolitan Opera in 2019 and her Pamina (Erzittre, feiger Bösewicht!) at the Grand Theatre Shanghai in 2018 were critically acclaimed.

Narea Son received her Master’s Degree and Concert Exam in Opera from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg.  She was a scholarship holder of the Herrmann und Milena Foundation, Koerber Foundation, Oscar und Vera Ritter Foundation.

In addition to her studies, she was able to take part in various master classes, including with Cheryl Studer, Mariella Devia, Bruna Baglioni, Edda Moser and Brigitte Fassbaender as well as Joyce DiDonato at Carnegie Hall in New York broadcasted live by Arte TV.
