Bayreuth Baroque 2025 Splendidly Opened
On September 4, the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2025 opened with the spectacular premiere of Francesco Cavalli’s Pompeo Magno.
The ensemble, led by director and countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic, brought the architectural jewel of the Margravial Opera House to life with exuberant verve, sharp wit and first-class musicality. Leonardo García-Alarcón once again affirmed his place at the international forefront of modern Cavalli interpretation with his Cappella Mediterranea!
This year’s edition of Bayreuth Baroque is dedicated to the 17th century; in addition to the four further performances of Pompeo Magno, the Bayreuth audience can look forward to outstanding concerts by, among others, Carlo Vistoli, Christina Pluhar and Malena Ernman, Julia Lezhneva and Franco Fagioli, as well as Marina Viotti!
