Born in Thessaloniki in a family of musicians, Sophia Patsi obtained her Bachelors degree with highest honours in Classical Singing and Opera in the State Conservatory of her hometown on 2009 in the class of the renown Greek bass, Nikos Kapetas.

Recently she appeared on international stages and festivals, some of which are the Auditorium de Lyon, the Opéra Grand d’Avignon, the Opéra de Dijon, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Ambronay Festival, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Göttingen International Handel Festival, the Heinrich Schütz Musikfest of Dresden, the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele, the Greek National Opera, the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, the Ljubljana Early Music Festival, the Stockholm Early Music Festival, the International Bach Chamber Music Festival of Riga and the Opera Noord Holland. In the 2023/24 season she will appear as Sisera in Handel’s Deborah on a European tour under the baton of Ton Koopman.

Recent solo engagements included a collaboration with the Greek National Opera in which she performed the part of Ozias in Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans under Markellos Chryssicos in a production of Thanos Papakonstantinou. The production was filmed and broadcasted by the music channel MEZZO.

Another highlights of the past seasons include her collaboration in Marina Abramovic’s performance The Seven Deaths of Maria Callas at the Carré Theatre in Amsterdam under Yoel Gamzu. In March 2023 she appeared in the productions CAVES (composer Alex Raul) and SPOKEN WORD (spoken word artist Lev Avitan) of the Opera Forward Festival at the Dutch National Opera.

Sophia has collaborated in Opera productions, Oratorio, Romantic and Early music concerts around the world working with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Gabriel Garrido, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon (Cappella Mediterranea), Barbara Hannigan, Valery Gergiev, Markellos Chryssicos, Gabriele Palomba (La Venexiana), Adrián Rodríguez Van der Spoel (Musica Temprana), Quentin Clare, Matthias Pintcher, Richard Egarr, Andres Locatelli, Alfredo Bernandini, Sigiswald Kuijken, Marcus Creed, among many others.

Her repertoire includes roles such aus Ericlea (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Arnalta and Nutrice (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Sleep and Autumn (The Fairy Queen), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Dido and Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Irene (Theodora), Bradamante (Alcina), 3rd Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress).
