Mezzo-soprano Giuseppina Bridelli was born in Piacenza and is one of the most sought-after interpreters for the baroque and classical repertoire.

In the past seasons she sang Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine with the Ensemble Pygmalion in an European tour, Stradella’s La Doriclea (Lucinda) with Il Pomo d’Oro under Andrea De Carlo in Rome, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (Messaggiera) on a world tour with Cappella Mediterranea under Leonardo García Alarcón, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Melanto, Humana fragilità) in Hamburg with Europa Galante under Fabio Biondi and in Cremona (Minerva) with Ottavio Dantone, Porpora’s Orfeo in Martina Franca with George Petrou, Cavalli’s L’Ercole amante (Dejanira) at the Opéra Comique in Paris with Raphaël Pichon and La clemenza di Tito (Sesto) with Federico Maria Sardelli at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Her concert repertory spans from works by Bach, Pergolesi, Haydn and Beethoven to works by Donizetti, Rossini, Berlioz, Mahler and Nino Rota, which she performed in venues such as Bologna, at the Festival della Valle d’Itria; Milan, the Philharmonie de Luxembourg, the Saint-Denis Festival, Lausanne, Eisenstadt, Wroclaw, Grenoble and Lyon. Moreover, she has performed in recitals and concerts in Paris, Lyon, Turin, London (Wigmore Hall), Montreal and New York (Carnegie Hall).

Her large discography includes Rota’s Mysterium (Decca), Vivaldi’s L’incoronazione di Dario (Naïve), Rossi’s Orfeo (Harmonia Mundi), Scarlatti’s Passio secundum Joannem (Ricercar), Rossini’s Péchés de vieillesse (Naxos), Gasparini’s Bajazet, Porpora and Scarlatti’s Cantatas, Händel’s Aci, Galatea e Polifemo (Glossa) and Stradella’s Doriclea (Arcana). Her first two solo albums were also released for Arcana: Duel: Porpora and Handel in London and Appena chiudo gli occhi (cantatas by Scarlatti and Caldara).

Recent engagements include Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Nicklausse) for the season’s opening of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Handel’s Tolomeo (Elisa) with Kammerorchester Basel under Giovanni Antonini on an European tour as well as productions at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and La clemenza di Tito in Geneva.
