Romain De Lagarde

Romain De Lagarde has been working as a lighting designer for theatre and opera since 2002. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT) in Lyon and has a degree in show management and lighting design. He assisted Maryse Gautier in productions such as Così fan tutte at the Opéra de Dijon, La strada at the ballet of the Opéra national du Rhin and in works by choreographer Fabrice Ramalingom. Assistencies with Joël Hourbeight took him to the Opéra de Toulon (Der Freischütz), to the Théâtre à la Colline in Paris (Un Long Voyage du Jour à la Nuit) and back to Strasbourg (Du mariage au divorce).

He has created his own lighting designs for the ENSATT, the Nouveau Téâtre in Lyon, the Théâtre Montfort in Paris and the Scène nationale de Besançon, among others. In the field of opera, he created lighting designs for Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice, Haydn’s Il mondo della luna, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Theâtre Mouffetard in Paris and Handel’s Flavio at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2023.
