In the 2023/24 season Bolivian bass José Coca Loza sang Achilla (Giulio Cesare) under Gianluca Capuano, the bass solo in Handel’s Messiah in Boston at the Handel and Haydn Society, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) in Prague, Borea in Scarlatti’s Il giardino di rose with La Ritirata on tour and the title role in Porpora’s Polifemo at the Opéra National du Rhin.

Recent highlights include Melisso (Alcina) at the Royal Opera House in London, Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Jesus in St John’s Passion in Madrid. As Alidoro he made his debut at the Vienna State Opera under Gianluca Capuano.

He also sang the bass part in Messiah at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Robert Wilson’s production under Mark Minkowski, a gala solo concert in Vicenza at Teatro Olimpico with the Venice Baroque Orchestra under Andrea Marcon and a gala concert with Ensemble Matheus under Jean Christophe Spinosi.

Other performances include Caronte in L’Orfeo with L’Arpeggiata under Christina Pluhar and with Rolando Villazón, his Royal Opera debut as Lesbos alongside Joyce DiDonato in the season opening production of Agrippina, Astolfo (Orlando Furioso) at the Tchaikovsky Hall, Messiah at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, Haly (L’italiana in Algeri) with Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi at the Salzburg Festival and at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) on tour with Cecilia Bartoli and Clistene (L’Olimpiade) with La Cetra Barockorchester under Andrea Marcon at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
